I mentioned this in another thread, but by all means go to http://www.wdvx.com and listen away
I'd weld my dial onto this station, but 1) my computer doesn't have one and 2) it'd melt all that plastic
Seriously though, great music all the time - sometimes I think the D in the call sign stands for "Dobro" (don't tell Gibson though) as I'm hearing tons of reso, as well as pedal steel.

I gotta put a plug in for our local C&W - yeah, they play both country and western

They have a classic country show every Sunday morning from 9-12 mountain time and do a good job.

Good thread on one of my favorite things about the internet. We can now listen to stations far away during the day!
I liked what I heard on WDVX the other day. The concept is great. There is another station that I've listened to called the Phoenix from outside Nashville that played some good stuff.
I also like Spinner Classic Country and a bunch of their jazz, blues and soul channels.
Jim Loessburg had a classis country show that I picked up out of San Marcos for a few weeks that was great. Has any other Internet Radio provider picked it up?
Regards,
Sam in AZ

It seemed every time I wanted to listen, I had to "upgrade" my player, or install yet another brand of player. Nothing is standard, so I'll tune in again after these guys get their $#!% together.
I went from Real Audio, to RealPlayer B2.5, to RealPlayer 3, to RealPlayer 5, to RealPlayer 8, and even that isn't good enough for all sites. Funny thing is, the last sounds no better, and is no more reliable than the first. You can watch crappy video, now, though.

Donny, most streaming audio and video uses either RealPLayer or Windows Media Player. From what I see at the WDVX site, they recommend Media Player. There is a link at the site that will open another window where you can d.load it. I have been listening to them and it sounds great. I haven't had any problems so far. Part of your problem may be at least partly due to your connection to the internet. If you are using a dialup connection (phone line) you will most likely have problems with streaming audio/video. Often it's just too slow to get good quality sound. If you are using a broadband (cable, DSL) connection, I'm not sure what your problem would be. I would check the troubleshooting guide at the WDVX site to help you track down your problem. I can only speak for myself, but upgrading to a broadband connection was almost like getting a new computer. The incredible amount of music online makes it well worth the little bit extra I pay each month for cable. WDVX has a very eclectic playlist that I really like. I hope you're able to check them out.
[This message was edited by Geoff Brown on 20 August 2001 at 01:39 AM.]
