It's not unusual for "child star" singers to want to play a different kind of music when they mature. Both Lee Ann and Wynonna were thrust into country stardom by their parents. What would you do if, on your 18th birthday, you realized that the whole world expected you to remain in the mold they created for you when you were a little kid?
I don't like Lee Ann's newer material, but I think she has earned the right to take her career in whatever direction she wants. Young women enjoy dancing, and if hip-hop stage dancing turns her on, that's fine with me. I don't have to buy it.
I'll probably buy her "country comeback" album when she's 30 years old, though.
