I've always liked Lee Ann. She has an incredible voice, and a nice personality (from what I've seen in interviews).

It's not unusual for "child star" singers to want to play a different kind of music when they mature. Both Lee Ann and Wynonna were thrust into country stardom by their parents. What would you do if, on your 18th birthday, you realized that the whole world expected you to remain in the mold they created for you when you were a little kid?

I don't like Lee Ann's newer material, but I think she has earned the right to take her career in whatever direction she wants. Young women enjoy dancing, and if hip-hop stage dancing turns her on, that's fine with me. I don't have to buy it.

I'll probably buy her "country comeback" album when she's 30 years old, though. Image

But...when Lee Ann is 30, how old will
you be, Uncle b0b?????????????????? And how
will your hearing be? Would you even know it
was Lee Anne singing? And wait! Would she be
really singing, or merely crooning, as those
lonesome wolves do?

I don't know how to put in those funny faces, but, please, this is a joke.

Lee Ann has the voice to sing whatever she chooses. I hope she'll use steelguitar in the future too! Image She has talent.

Leann is very gifted. And she's great at country--after all, she was raised singing it. (The steel playing in her Blue album was a big inspiration in my getting into PSG.) She is free to go wherever she wants musically, of course, but the pop music field she is pursuing is crowded with fiercely competitive divas from Brittany to Madonna. It's VERY hard to win there. Country, on the other hand, needs good, fresh voices. I really thought she was headed for real country stardom and might in time even gain the level of someone like Patsy Cline, so I was really disappointed to see her turn away. I do hope she comes back.

As James Brown said,"I never say anything on stage that I wouldn't say in front of my grandmother."
I bet Brother James never flipped-off his grandma and left the stage after singing four songs, in Mexico.

I'd still rather see Britney's navel, than James's.

I don't see the parallel, Joey. Britney wasn't singing for her grandmother. Also, when you get a press report, you're getting it fourth or fifth hand, You can bet that we didn't get both sides of the story. What I meant by my original post is just to respect all women instead of judging which ones you think you should respect. What's it going to cost us? I'm not singling anyone out particularly.

Does anyone have a link to any documentation that says that the Brittmeister flipped off her audience? Does it give any explanation surrounding the incident? Was she doing it to the entire audience or perhaps just one "model citizen" in the front row? (Not that I'd necessarily believe everything I read in the press these days, but at least it's a start.)

As for inflated prices, have you priced a concert from a major top tier act in ANY genre lately? Rock, country, blues, whatever, it seems to me they're all pretty pricey.

I finaly saw the video clip of the Mexico show and I did not see her flipp off anyone. There was a thunder storm and when lightning hit near the stage the road crew came out and started shuting stuff off and covering the amps and speakers. All she did was say goodby and the crowd started booing her.

So it sounds like she just didn't want to be electricuted. I guess that wasn't controversial enough for the press, so they made up their own story.

... and the "flipping off" was to the paparazzi on the way from the airport, or outside the hotel... just for the record.
Nick (who has no feelings about her either way, except I have to say, she does look cute in pictures...)

Yikes, how about another post from someone pointing out what a waste of time it is to post on this topic, c'mon kids how 'bout a nice of irony with that indignation.

One guys fine pickin' is another guys lame-ass honky-tonk music, one pop star is another person's plaything, yadda-yadda.

Kids read this?...... I thought they were all in boy-bands, girl bands or playing K-Mart style punk rock or busy at a bible group rather than reading a musicians style forum.

Lee Ann Rimes will do okay, at heart she was pretty much always torn between a yodel queen country gal and 1980s pop, so a kid's gotta follow their heart, no matter how cheesey it might be to others.

My dad thinks that Celine Dion is the greatest; whereas I'd rather have bamboo shoots fitted under my finger-nails that go to one of her concerts.
It's probably know from previous posts that am a massive fan of Maddona, although I never dug her early stuff, I figured she matured into a great pop act, some can do that, others never will.

P.S. I think Lee Ann let go her road band in 1999, but kept using most of them for another year or two, Junior however seems to have been left out of the live show from that point, so I guess it's safe to say that a decision was made some time back to bring her into the crossover style of performer: Pop/Country hitmaker.

This weeks RollingStone Mag has a parigraph on Leann Rimes. The headline is"RIMES MOANS".
She says on her new album she had to do all these moans in the studio and sings a line"Take your time to move down low", Rimes says"I was afraid to let my mom hear it. I knew she was gonna freak out."

I don't think shes singing country anymore!

I don't imagine LeAnn is going away anytime soon. Her single from the Coyote Ugly soundtrack is still played very frequently on Chicago pop radio. That movie came out in 2000.

But you're right, no more steel guitar. I can't see her going to trad. country. The new country sounds like pop anyway, so what difference does it make?

I think Milo Dearing played with her some after that awesome Junior Knight. Milo is awesome, too!
