I too hated counntry music until my brother challenged me to sing in his country band. This was the Haggard, Price, Hart, early 70's era. I learned more about music and people singing country than I ever did with those syuck up rock music lovers, HA! I hardly ever listen to am country radio because it's lost the traditional country sound that I fell in love with. Some of it smacks of bad r 'n' r.
Guess I'm just gettin' older.....

I do like real traditional hillbilly country and western music.I do not care for the top 40 bad rock and roll that many call country today. There are a few, very few well known singers today who sing country, while the rest rock it or pop it.If you like todays music that is billed country then buy it.I just remember the days before the murder on music row, when the music was void of the bad rock and roll that is part of the show today. When a song has a steel sound here and there its a poor sub.for the glory days when the steel was the other voice on the records.I wish that more songs would really turn that steel loose on the radio today but fewer are even using one at all.If you would like to learn about country music build a list of the stars of the past and get their cds.Bad rock and roll sold with light shows, cowboy hats, and billed has country still is bad rock and roll.Just because you call it country does not mean that it is.
[This message was edited by Andy Alford on 05 September 2003 at 07:45 AM.]

The Geezinslaw Brothers said it right: "You call it country, I call it bad rock."

I hear the, "I don't like country music, but..." line all the time. I think it's just something to say to start a conversation with a band member. Then whatever they say, they can cover themselves by saying that they don't really like country anyway. Oh, well...

If one does not know what country music is than they will not know by explanation?
Many know & love it and move on.

Country music or not, I don't care for watching the Bucs right now. Last night was particularly unpleasant for folks in these parts. Image
