While there's more to a book than its cover, it's the cover that gets you to pickup the book in the first place.

Having a preference for a neat and clean public appearance, particularly at a venue like The Opry, is neither superfluous nor intolerant. It's simply respectful of decorum.

Well the last time I saw Willie Nelson he hadn't shaved in oh, probably years and his pony tail was hangin' down his back - but it was clean and wasn't getting in the way or anything. If I recall, he was dressed up kinda like a cowboy - worn out jeans, "white hat", boots.

I don't know Carl, "cesspool" might be too strong a word! Image (this is not, I repeat NOT a debate, just an observation).

My rack of jeans was looking pretty ratty, so on Saturday I decided to go to the mall to buy some new ones. To my surprise, the ones in the store looked worse than the ones I wanted to replace! And some of them were really expensive, too! Plus they didn't have my odd size.

I finally ended up at Sears, where I found 3 pair of real new jeans in my size for only $18 each. Bought all 3.

My point is that these performers in their ratty looking jeans might actually be wearing brand new pants! Who woulda thought?
