On reflection I don't see Walking After Midnight workin' in minor, more than some sort of introduction.
It realy is integrally major with the above mention change being integrall also.
I do have no problem with Eric's and Walters ideas od taking a song and changing genres. Maybe not all somgs but many work.
I have a reggae version of Teach Your Children withMandolin doing Jerrys parts and an Irish style vocal. And it works quite well.
We did the same around 1979 with Rod Stweart's Tonights The Night. It went over quite well.
viva la difference!

Nice topic here..
One thing I would add is , and I have learn't this the hard way thru the years..
IF you take a fine song that many folks like to hear and dance to..and thats what most of us do anyway..play for folks that like to listen and dance..If you take a fine song and change it to much..you may find yourself in a dither with those that want to hear the song close to the version they are familiar with.
I'm not saying we shouldn't stretch an arrangement but we should also read the crowd to be sure we ain't stretchin' them !
I recall one time we dramatically changed an arrangement of a tune, played it and then some dude comes up and asks us to play the song again..the right way..
