The steel players were:
- Don Helms 52-55
- Jimmy Biggar 54
- Jimmy Day 56-62
- Jack Evins 56-58
- Buddy Emmons 62-66
Then there were few sessions when non Cherokee Cowboy filled in. like a.m. mentioned Walter Haynes. Also, the first session lists Eddie Martin on steel.
And Dave, Touch My Heart was recorded in -66, so that'd be an Emmons guiitar.

Not to pre-empt Buddy's answer, but the "Touch My Heart" guitar was the Emmons wraparound that he sold to Dicky Overbey and later became the infamous "wagon."

Holy smokes!! The Ray Price box set (Bear Family Records) I ordered came in yesterday. Dropped everything I was doin' and ended up listening to half the CD's tell well into the wee hours of the morining. Gotta tell ya it truly is a "bible of the E9th". Jimmy Day's work is truly incredible. CD #8 was worth the $200 alone. If I can ever begin to play the notes he played (no hope for his voicing, I'll just take hittin' the right notes) like he did I will be in heaven. There's over 250 tunes here.
Some of the tunes I hadn't heard in 30 years, some other (great tunes) I had never heard before. It is truly one awesome source of study material. This set along with Jim Loessberg's Ray Price course is gonna be a big tackle.
Now if I can just get about 4 weeks vacation...
(PS: Yep, no background (overdub) vocals on my track of "I wish that I could fall in love today" either. Anybody know what CD "Big Shoes to Fill" is on? It was the only tune I could think of from this time frame that wasn't in the set)
