Saw the first one or two episodes of NStar this time around... I was pretty disappointed with the big change in direction.
Other than the "Goober", it just seemed like there were all these folks who were way more conventional, and unoriginal this time around. Last year, there was the torch singer with the black hair, a Norteno singing latino, and a bunch of bar tested honky-tonk kind of folks.
I just got much more of a sort of bland, inoffensive machine-ready feeling from this year.
I dug Jennifer's voice, and it is a pity she didn't get the final prize...
The above isn't a reflection on her, it's just a reason why (in general) I couldn't keep myself curious about this season... too new-countryish for my non-commercial tastes, too glossy... for what it's worth, I kind of appreciated the originality and "different-ness" of the dude in the overalls... at least he had some personality (whatever his musical skill might have been is a separate question...
