Hey, Gene - I wondered if there was a ' Image' missing when I first read it!

Randy

There's something vaguely insidious about Walmart. It has a 'blue-collar' image, yet is probably the biggest corporation in America! Still, it's hard for me to ignore their prices on a steel-player's wages - I look there first for new releases. It's not a real music-store, with very little back-catalogue, but it serves its purpose! (If it was REAL music store, Randy Beavers would be in there!)

I can't decide which tracks I like best on this 'Ray' CD - the Bonnie Raitt one, the JT one.... 'You Don't Know Me' is such a great song anyway, and I love Diana Krall's voice. Norah Jones comes off very well, too. I'm still amazed by the arranging on the track with Willie - he's not my favourite singer, but he interacts well with Charles.

Maybe you should have bought it at Walmart, then you'd have had enough over for a cup of Starbuck's finest.... Image

Starbucks does have an exclusive Ray Charles CD, it's one in a series they put out of songs that artists like or were influenced by. There have been discs by Rolling Stones, etc. Kinda cool to get a disc of music a group or artist personally recommends. The "Genius Loves Company" is widely available. I like it, but he was not in best voice compared to earlier works, imho. "It Was a Very Good Year" with Willie Nelson is truly dreadful, both singers sounding bad on a song they should never have cut.
