I'll be playing with a couple bands this Saturday at the inaugural Grass Roots Music Festival in Grass Valley, CA

https://www.grassrootsmusicfestival.org/

Pretty great lineup if you're into independent country artists.

Merle Jagger and Jenny Don’t are two of the best band names I have seen in a long time.

I wish I could make it up there, Joseph. Have a great show. Or two.

Getting a little far north to be considered Central Cal, but I'll be playing commercial country with Locked N Loaded at the Silver Dollar Saloon in Marysville on Friday, the 26th.

Did you know there was a brothel upstairs until sometime in the 70s?

The Silver Dollar almost went out of business back then. Too much f&#kin overhead. 😃

Apparently you are the only working steel player around these parts, Paul.
Thanks for posting your dates. I have a smattering of gigs this year in Calaveras County, if anyone wants to know just pm me. I might leave my band though 🏃‍♂️😤

I'm pretty bad about posting where I'll be playing... but for the most part our band stays pretty close to home, however Fred, we will be coming back to Arnold, and also doing a concert in the town of Railroad Flats, not too far from your town.... this summer.

Here's a link to our calendar on our band web site:

www.therandomstrangers.com

…. and here is a forum link to a nice picture of my "new" 1936 National 7 string lap steel, taken yesterday at the Red Hawk Casino:

[quote="Kerry Johnson"]I'm playing in my house several times this week HAAA and continue to give Lessons to my students.

HOWEVER ..... Bobby Black will performing with Bill Kirchen in Soquel, CA at a nice small Restaurant called Michael's on Main at 7:30pm July 19th. $20

How do I get in on some of this sliding action. I'm in Aptos and run a new business called WhiskeyBack Guitars, but believe it or not, I don't have any steel player friends around. In fact my friends don't even know what a steel IS. I have a couple students, and I buy, sell and trade guitars and building a prototype lap right now. Seems like guitars are all I think about. It would be great to be able to play some pedal (I've only tried once at the Guitar Shop on Soquel, Steve let me plug his floor steel in for an hour) and just have some intelligence debriefings on everything lap up, stand down and somebody pleeeeeeease play Dark was the Night, Cold was the Ground on a pedal steel for me. Lets play something loud. I just installed some Duncan 59's in my Asher. Sounds unbelievable through a Marshall. Seriously angelic tones are being created and nobody around has the sensibilities we have to appreciate the tone miracles Seymour has performed.

Hope to hear from y'all. I'm on Facebook...Terry Ertz and also you can pm me at WhiskeyBack Guitar Co. on FB. @WhiskeyBackScoutmaster. Instagram is @Trexcantcombhishair

Sac area

Post by Kevin Quick »

I will hopefully be playing some gigs in the Sacramento area soon but the band I am in is looking for a lead guitarist. We play mostly trad. country, some newer stuff, and some originals. I'm posting in this section in hopes that some of you in the Sac. area might know of someone. We have gigs booked. Anyhow you can contact me at kaybaj@gmail.com or 916 745 9761.
Thanks

Hey Terry,

Send me a PM message here with your Email address and I'll put on my mailing list.
Maybe we can meet up at the Guitar Shop or More Music in Santa Cruz sometime.
