Freeware program to edit MP4 files???

Does anyone know of a freeware program to edit MP4 files? I'm familiar with using Windows Movie Maker, but it doesn't support MP4s.

I also downloaded a program from Video Pad (suggested in another thread), but can't get it to work on my Vista computer.

Any suggestions?

Nearly certain that Virtual Dub can do it. It's free.

Pretty good chance Machete will do it also. Machete costs money, but the free Machete Lite version may work.

May be preferable to convert to AVI with a program like Prism--made by NCH Software as I recall.
