Sweetheart of the Rodeo: On Tour (McGuinn/Hillman/Stuart)

The ticket prices for the NY show are out of control. I went to the Ticketmaster site myself out of curiosity for that tour stop. Is there something we're missing?

There were probably some less expensive seats which have since sold out higher up in the balcony, but based on the other prices - how much cheaper? $177? $207?

The ticket prices would have stopped me if I lived 15 minutes from the venue. And to drive from Vermont if I'm John - no thanks, I'll pass.

But there aren't many seats remaining on the online chart. New York City alone has
population of over 8 million.

I guess if you throw enough people at almost any kind of concert then apparently it doesn't matter about the price, you'll sell all the tickets regardless.

Chris Scruggs masterfully played steel this evening on about 8 tunes. Also, if you closed your eyes, some of Marty's licks might have fooled the uninitiated into thinking there was a steel on every song.

Really stellar show, in my opinion.

Mark, we saw those prices too, it's out of hand, there are cheaper ones on stub hub, but all still over 100. Plus associated costs, I may pass. Will check back closer to show date and see if anyone is dumping them cheaper.

The second hand marker is ruining being able to buy seats these days.

Chris Scruggs did indeed do a fine job on pedal steel on Hickory Wind in that video from an audience member.

And the set list - 28 songs - wow! Thatâ€™s a serious effort. Mike Campbell joining in on some Tom Petty songs during the extensive encore - how cool is that?

If you donâ€™t have it yet, Chris Hillmanâ€™s latest album is very good and it was produced by the late Mr. Petty.

All pedal steel from Chris Scruggs. Really great stuff. If I'm not mistaken, he was playing a LDG Sho-Bud, appropriately enough.

For those who haven't seen it, the Station Inn posted Lloyd and JayDee doing the entire Sweetheart of the Rodeo instrumental set live. A little rough here and there but interesting to see who is doing what. I may convince myself yet that $277 is an appropriate price to see Roger, Chris and Marty but for the moment this is an interesting alternative.

Most of the working musicians I know, myself included, cannot afford their prices.
This is a slap in the face to all the loyal fans who have supported these musicians, and bought their records over the last 50 yrs.
No longer about the music--no longer about showing appreciation to the fans--now it's only about the money. Don't get me wrong, I like money too.
However, it seems to me they are disregarding the folks who helped make them rich and famous. Shame, shame, shame.

I certainly get your point. For me, this kind of ticket price is only feasible for a once-in-a-lifetime event. For example, I gladly paid $150 a few years ago to see one of the few reunion concerts of Buffalo Springfield (whom I never had the chance to see back in the day). (Of course they did not have the backline of Dewey Martin and Bruce Palmer, both deceased, but they sure did have the all-critical frontline of Stills, Young and Furay. And it was phenomenal.

If it were really possible to see "The Byrds" again, I'd probably pay for it, but this configuration isn't quite there for me (though I enjoyed the video clips and I think Chris did a super job on PSG).

I'd probably also pay at least that much to see Streisand.

I'll have to really compare the concert in Albany,NY to the rest of them.
I only paid $48.00 a ticket to see them. I hope the concert is a good one and not shortened or abbreviated in any way.
BTW- I would not pay $277 for a ticket for anyone, anywhere. For that kind of money, I'd want to be wined and dined with a personal performance preference.

Second show was added at Town Hall in NYC, got Orchestra seats for $95, far cry from the inflated aftermarket prices. If you are interested still, act now.

I just bought 4 tickets at balcony-
With fee and everything $250 for 4
Went to box office today and they told me transaction is strictly via Ticketmaster on line.
From 31st of August the box office is allowed to sell left over seats-

Not like what it used to beâ€”

Oh, and this is for additional September 23rd Sunday show- there are more $49 seats available as of now so hurry if you like to check it out

Somebody in LA with a decent seat and reasonably good cam posted a lot of the performances on YouTube, which will give you a pretty good idea of what you will see. After watching I sort of have mixed feelings. Both Chris and Roger now have sort of old guy voices. Not that theirs anything wrong with that, after all, they're both in their early 70's. Chris' voice is still strong but has acquired a bit of a quaver. Used to love Roger's voice but it is thinner and weaker. I'll probably talk myself into going but I've adjusted my expectations. Just not gonna sound as smooth as the album. I think Marty's drummer, who is a fine singer, fills in a lot on the harmonies. Still, this will never happen again so definitely worthwhile.
