Hi Allen:

Here is Sam's obituary from March 9th, 2023:

https://www.gortonmenardfuneralhome.com ... muel-White

He attended a RISGA Meeting, I would say, maybe 2 years ago... and that is the last we had heard of him and his wife, Anna.

He started at least three local Pedal Steel Guitar Associations, none the least of which was Rhode Island Steel Guitar Association (RISGA).
blah, blah, blah.

blah, blah, blah.

Sorry to hear about Sam. Since nobody has posted in Gone Home, I'm moving this thread to that section.

I never knew Sam passed away until I read this post. The man had incredible enthusiasm for the pedal steel guitar. My condolences to Anna.

Yes Sam really put his heart & soul into keeping a Steel Guitar Association going on somewhere. We will miss all of his enthusiasm for sure. Guess now he is with his best Steel buddy, Ray Walker, and making music together again. My condolences Anna, and I'm sure I can speak for all of the friends you and Sam shared via the Steel Guitar, if there is anything we can do for you please just ask....

GOD bless you Anna,

Allen Howington

Damn. Hate seeing this. Last saw Sam at a PSGA show and I believe at one of the Dallas Conventions around the same timeframe, not sure, maybe 2019 before COVID hit? He was a great guy and loved his C6 playing. RIP Sam. Anna is in our thoughts.
