Sho~Bud Maverick setup

Post by Justin Mills »

First off, Merry Christmas everyone!
I have a little Maverick here Serial 3705 model 6138-k.
I picked this up years ago and just went thry a restoration on it. That can be seen on my shop facebook page "Mills Music & Electronic Repair". I cant figure out how to post a pic of the underside here.
I know it had a knee lever that didnt come with it. I have thr clips that hold the small bar that the round greese fitting looking thing goes on, and i have the L bracket for the knee lever stop. So, I will not be adding the knee lever as im not looking to buy one but, i am trying to set it up now and my question is this. The a and c pedal both pull string 5. My question is how? I must be missing another part. I have looked online and i see others that are setuo like this one when i bought it. So is there another "common" string pull on the c pedal? I cant get 2 rods in string 5 so im unsure what else to hook it to.
I see from what i can tell it looking like others similar to mine pull string 7 on the c pedal, does that aoind familiar?
I will be playing standard 80s 90s country with this guitar if that i fo helps.

Thanks for any input.

On string 5, the A pedal rod connects to the yoke on the C pedal, and the C pedal rod connects to the string 5 finger, so both pedals pull the same rod section that's actually connected to the finger. Here's a pic from the forum archives, it's a little hard to see in the pic because the B pedal rod happens to cross directly under that connection, but look closely and you can see the A pedal rod (coming in from the right side of the pic) hooked onto the opposite side of the same hole in the C pedal yoke. If you do a search here there are tons of other pics to help clarify this. Per your other question re: string 7, no, the C pedal should only pull strings 4 and 5 a whole step each, that's all.
