New Crawford/Hughey CD
Just wanted to let everyone know that Jimmie Crawford and John Hughey's new gospel CD, entitled James and John Upon an Instrument of Ten Strings is now out and available on both CD and cassette.
This record was begun 20 years ago, and recently resurfaced and was completed this spring. It is a tribute also to Gary Hogue, who restored the tapes and did the final mix.
Check it out-- it's available at
www.jimmiecrawford.com
and I am sure it will be up soon on John's site shortly.
I will try and post the quote on the back cover from Lloyd Green--it says it all!

This is a quote from Lloyd Green about this new CD, which is on the back tray card of the CD
"I've heard most of the gospel steel guitar
albums, some are quite good, and I have a few in my CD collection. Now
admittedly I'm somewhat biased ,John Hughey and Jimmie Crawford are not only
two of truly great players of the instrument, but also are my friends .I think
their joint new CD is simply the finest yet recorded of this genre of music.
Most of the tunes are familiar ones to all of us, yet John and Jimmie's
artistry elevate these great gospel songs to an even more listenable level by
virtue of their remarkable playing talents. Neither of these guy's sound
like any other steel player, nor would they want to. They are stylists and
individualists in the finest sense. They play these songs from the heart, with great emotion , artistry and tone like you've never heard.
Yep---you guessed it, this CD goes into
my collection where it will be listened to many times.
