Laptop for Practice?

Post by Glenn Shankle »

Does anyone use a laptop for practice? In the past I have used a Tascam CD-GT1 that was very useful. Some shortcomings, but still usable. I need to replace it though and was considering getting a new laptop. I know I need digital convertor, and I want to be able to use headphones. Im wondering about latency issues. Any tips or advice?

Dont need tracks to practice with. Just got the house gig at Cowboys in S.A. I will be learning from the original song. What I need to do is store and play all the songs while playing along with them. Being able to speed up or slow down, loop parts, and so on. I need to plug my guitar in and listen thru headphones so I can practice at the club.

Hey Glenn ! Good to see you on the Forum !! I usually do name surfing to see who's on here and yours is one I'm always looking out for... but 25 posts for you so far means I don't see you too often; that's what makes it so meaningful !! Good to see you are busy in SA.

Reece once sent me to Laredo for a gig; I think it took me two days to get there from Dallas!! But I was ten foot high and bullet proof in those days.

Remember; walk softly and carry a big stick !!

Hey Paul. Good to hear from you. You still writing?Youre right about that drive to Laredo. It can be either boring or relaxing, depending on your point of view.
