Crossword Puzzle(s) Question

I like Xwords and play many of them online.

All puzzles aren't the same, however.

One of the big differences between certain puzzles is how you switch from ACROSS to DOWN and viceversa. On some this can be done with the NESW arrows. But on others, the arrows do not do this, but instead, the BAR.

Is there some kind of add-on to make a key near the arrows change the puzzles direction?

The puzzles that operate using the arrows can be played with one hand. The ones using the bar, two hands.
What's more annoying, is if you play enough of both types, you get them mixed-up from time to time; hitting the bar when you don't have to, or hitting an arrow when it should have been the bar.

Any of the keys on the far right pad would be excellent candidates to enable 'across to down' and 'down to across'.
Maybe there is already a default option hidden somewhere on the OS. I'm running W7.

A lot of them are Shockwave or Flash type content and I don't think you can set a key or whatever for those. You are limited to how they work.

I do them too and have resorted to Firefox for the Yahoo daily puzzle. With Internet Explorer the if you use the up or down arrow the whole screen moves up or down along with moving to the place in the puzzle.

Some puzzles are quirky like that [or maybe it's the browser, too].

Many puzzles will not ZOOM, but the rest of the page does.

My all-time favorite puzzle is the NY Times. Somehow their clues are always spot on; even if at first they don't seem to make much sense.
But the NYT now wants $40+ per year to join. That's a bit much. However, every Monday they put up a "free" NYT Classic Puzzle (from the archives).

Here are some free sites that I like. The Washington Post gets close to the NYT:

I thought the SGF software automatically aligns goof-ups, like this one.

The horizontal scroll bar happened because you pasted in a huge link. Links like yours do not wrap on the SGF, because there are no breaks in the code.

Rather than dropping in a long link, type a descriptive phrase and highlight it with your mouse. Then use the URL button above the text field to add opening and closing URL tags on the sides of the phrase. Go into the opening URL tag and type an equals sign (=), then paste you link directly to the right of it, with no spaces. Make sure the link is inside the right bracket after the URL. This makes the words into an active link, which contains all the destination code. It e4liminates the scroll bar problem.
