Herby spoke highly of Doug not only as a steel player but as a christian. My heart and prayers go out to the family.

I heard Herby play in past years at the ISGC,bought a couple of his CD's and play them often.
They will play tonight.
What a sad loss to the steel community.

Our sincere condolences, from the Sacred Steel community to the Wallace family during this time.
I had the honor of meeting Mr. Herbie Wallace in Columbus, Ohio, during one of Gary Preston's Gospel Steel Guitar Jubilee Concerts.
He was kind enough to take a photo with me.
What a phenomenal talent, our prayers go with you, R.I.P. Mr. Wallace.

Herby Wallace

Post by Fred Layman »

Herby was a guest performer on the annual Central Kentucky Steel Guitar Show many times while I lived near Lexington. After I retired in the Lexington Kentucky area in '98, we relocated to Sevierville-Pigeon Forge TN. Herby had his business and studio in Sevierville. I spent many pleasurable hours at the studio just talking with him and listening to him play. He was a giant in the steel guitar world, but also a very personable guy when spending time with friends. I treasure those memories.
