Sammy Masters passes in sleep
So. California Bandleader Samuel Lemaster, known as Sammy Masters, passed away in his sleep last Friday. He had been dealing with Alzimers for the last few years. Sammy was a close dear friend and will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out for Sammy and his wife Maria and Family.

He hired me when I was first learning to play, before I was really ready. He and the guitar player (whose name escapes me) were very encouraging and helpful.
RIP old friend.

Hey Mike, I played with Sammy a couple of stints also, the guitar player might have been Ray Mahaffey, if so, Ray's passed on too... Billy, the last time I saw Sammy was when I came to California in Oct. of '05 and came and saw you guys and sat in on Carl's guitar... Sorry to hear of his passing...JH in Va.
Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!!

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Sammy pretty much managed the Sunday Afternoon "Cals Corral" TV show and handed out the Union Scale $12.00 checks for the half hour gig. Once when I was on working with Johnny & Joany Mosby, we backed up Willie Nelson wtil in his Suit & Tie. Sammy pitched Willie a song he had written "Who Can I Count On If I Can't Count On You". Willie took it back to Nashville and put on the back side of Patsy Cline's recording of "Crazy". Sammy enjoyed many royalty checks for writing the "B" side. Sammy also enjoyed some sucess in the "Rockabilly music. If anyone wants to Google "Sammy Masters" you can see more details of his Career in Music. Sammy also had a career working in Public Service as a Geologiwst.

Sammy also penned "If I Could See The World Through The Eyes of A Child," that Patsy also recorded and had a pretty good-sized hit with it.

This is another big hit on our neighborhood of History that Bob Romero and the Academy Of Country Music Board of Directors and it's new young staff can't seem to get in their heads yet alone together California for us in that big three story office house in Encino that Sammy Master and us all out here in Southern Califonria as musicians paved the way for.Where is Our Academy Of Country Music Museum? All that big money Mr. Dick Clark and his Productions helped to this cause. I picked drums many gigs with Sammy Master.RIP our neighborhood Father of education to traditional Country Music just like Jack Tucker,Gene Davis,Danny Michaels,Eddy Drake,Eddie Dean and so many many more.
