Speedy West Gone for Ten Years Now

Post by Billy Easton »

Friday, Nov. 15th was the tenth anniversary of Speedy's death. I sure miss my old pal and mentor. He was a great guy and will always be my hero. Rest in peace, Speedy.

I sure miss Speedy he was also my good friend too.

Just a great guy and great natural ability to play steel guitar and loved people.

Thanks Billy for remembering him.

Bob White passed away at about the same time. Two great steel players.

I too, surely miss SPEEDY West........

It's a crime, I feel, that Speed's BIGSBY is on display at Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame. It looks like it has been submerged in a muddy old river for years before being hauled up and put on display.
So sad! Such great music played on that guitar.

I cannot forget that it was the same time sequence that took Bob White home as well. The loss was double for a lot of pedal steel players because of Bob's contributions to the advancement of the Pedal Steel Guitar.

Speedy was one of the two players that got me interested in playing steel so many years ago - Red Rhodes being the other.

Miss both those guys.
