My Dad "Billy Tonnesen" told me he had just talked with him the week before he passed and Joe wasn't doing well either.
I didn't want to say anything in my dad's thread on Saturday out of respect to his family.
2 more greats has moved along.
Jack Tucker is one of the only one's I clearly remember when I was a kid along with Shorty Bacon.

Wow Leo, thanks for the info about Joe. I can't believe we've lost another one of our favorite SoCal steel men and so close to Billy Tonneson's passing.
Steve, your dad kept me abreast of how Joe was doing as they were always good friends throughout the years. I knew Joe was in bad health. I always liked that purple colored Emmons he had that used to belong to Weldon Myrick. Joe was a great C6th player and always stayed on that "inside neck"... RIP Joe B. and Billy T. A pair of good ones.......JH in Va.

Joe & I were old friends from the 50's,back in Springfield,Ma. I remember sneaking into the Hotel Lenox, when I was about 16 or 17 yrs. old, listening to Joe play. After I became a little more proficient on the steel, him & I worked w/ a lot of the local artists up there. I kept in "part-time" contact w/ Joe when he moved to Ca. Sure am gonna miss our phone chats. Joe was a great guy!!
