C6: Led Zeppelin bass riff

Post by Frank Freniere »

"Ramble On" from the second album.

Reading about the Jackson pedal bass guitar, I remembered from somewhere that the Big E actually did play bass on the steel guitar in a touring band. So I asked Ernie Renn and here’s what he said:

“He did that with Ray Price. Buddy had quit playing at the Foothill Club in Long Beach and Ray was giving him a ride back to Nashville in his bus. It was at the end of Ray's road tour and he didn't have a bass player, so Buddy did the remaining jobs playing bass lines on steel. Jimmy Day played steel.”

What else would you expect from “The World’s Foremost Steel Guitarist?”
