I just bought my first pedal steal(Yay ! ) It's an Excel S10. I am about to design a few things for it and thought...hmm...I bet others wished they had something they cannot find...even something custom for their guitars ! I am not looking to make a living so my prices would be VERY competitive(e.g. parts cost + shipping + small profit for my time). I am looking to give back to the community. Seems like so many pedal steel add-ons are way overpriced IMHO
I intend to sell the on the forum(discounted) and elsewhere. FYI - I am a retired engineer with a workshop equipped with all of the usual woodworking machines as well as a large CNC, CO2 Laser cutter/engraver, vinyl cutter, electronics tools and 3d Printers. Here's what I will be making for myself : (these aren't new concepts, just something I can make less expensively)
* Sheet Music Stand that attached to the body or the legs which can also can hold my ToneX and an effect pedal or two
* Leg Mounted finger picks and bar(s) holder
* An extra pedal(s) for my Excel. I will make these out of engineering grade 3D filament(PPS-CF). This is extremely rigid and durable and similar bending stiffness to Aluminum.
* Fretboard overlays - I can make any shape/size out of various materials.
* Lap Steel Roller Bridge and nuts (steel bars and rollers, wood or aluminum base frame)
I can do custom designs as well. I am willing to make something for someone with a new idea for me that others would want that I could sell. I would only charge you for parts cost + shipping. My time is free in this case.
For some of my own ideas, it would be good for me to try them out on folks before I sell them. If you are willing to review and write a detailed written review, I could send you products at no charge to compensate you for your time.
What do you wish you had but can't find or have found but wished it was cheaper ?
