Seeking Teacher / Mentor

Post by Gary Wessels »

I'm an E9 player in Rural British Columbia, Canada.

I'm seeking a teacher / mentor who'd be willing to teach via facetime / zoom / etc. I'm looking for someone to guide me as a developing musician on the steel.

I'm about 3 years into what promises to be a lifelong journey with the pedal steel. I really love it and practice consistently at least an hour every day. My playing is progressing, but I think I need some regular one-on-one instruction, feedback, and mentoring to keep me on track. Travis Toy has helped me along the way, as have many here on the pedal steel forum. Living where I do, there's not many good players to keep me on track or provide a framework for learning to play well enough to improvise and play live. I can block a few ways, know my harmonized and single-position scales, and have a decent knowledge of the fretboard and tuning. I also spend a lot of time transcribing other players' work and practicing what I hear them doing. My background is bluegrass banjo and guitar, and I've played banjo in a couple bands. I'm into country, alt-country, folk, and singer/songwriter.

This is a paid gig!

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Gary

Paul Franklin offers many courses. And I am sure someone on the Forum does Zoom lessons . . .
