Where Are Your E’s
On a Day setup where do you guys put your levers to raise and lower your E’s?

E lower - RKR
E raise - RKL
I keep the E raise/lower on the right knee because they're my most-used levers, and it makes them easier to use with any pedal combinations. Having the E changes on the left knee makes certain A-B-L combinations very awkward with either the Emmons or Day setup.

Same here. LKL lowers. LKR raises to F. LKR and A pedal gives a perfect 6 chord
I also use my
LKV to raise my F#s to G works very well with 4 chord pedals mashed

Re: Where Are Your E’s
I lower my E's with my RKR and raise them with my LKR. This works for me.

MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro.

Re: Where Are Your E’s
I have played Day Setup with knee levers for over 25 years. LKL lower E's, LKR raise E's. In 2017 I went from E9th, To S12 universal. I went to Jeff Newman's S12 U for videos and lessons. I now have E's on right knee, RKL Raise E"s, RKR Lower E's. It did not take long to learn the change on the knee levers.

RKR = Lower
RKL = Raise
...seems more versatile.

Re: Where Are Your E’s
Thanks guys. I am thinking of changing from Emmons to Day because of a knee/ankle issue.

Re: Where Are Your E’s
I play a U-12. I get more pedal and knee combinations with RKR to Eb and RKL to F. Holding the RKR (Eb) while using all of the other pedals and Left knees results in less contortions. I would assume the same would apply to a D-10 or S-10? I have 4 left knee levers.

Re: Where Are Your E’s
The E's can be put anywhere... with the exception of the E raise:Craig A Davidson wrote: 16 Jan 2026 8:36 am Thanks guys. I am thinking of changing from Emmons to Day because of a knee/ankle issue.
If (if) you want to put the E-raise on the left leg to use with the Day pedal setup, it should probably be on LKR. That way, it's easier to use with the A-pedal (A+F). But that change doesn't have to be on the left leg...
Other than that issue, it seems you can go with any arrangement you want in terms of E-raises and lowers.

Re: Where Are Your E’s
I've had the on both sides, Having them on the left side makes more sense to me, as the foot is already going that way when using A/LL & B/LR.

Re: Where Are Your E’s
RKR= lower
RKL= raise
lots of our friends here still playing E's on the right .. Left just doesn't work as well for certain chord positions /pedal lever positions mainly because operating 2 pedals and a knee on left leg can be awkward.... Maurice Anderson understood the workings, complexities, and ergonomics of pedal steel guitars as well as anyone, and he made the E changes on the right standard on his MSA guitars for many years.. I can adapt to E's on the left.. Have done it several times.. For me it just does not work as well...

Re: Where Are Your E’s
The left leg has to multitask between ABC pedals and levers. The right leg has to multitask between volume pedal and levers. I find the latter a lot more difficult, so prefer to have the most-used levers on the left leg.

LKR= E to F
RKL= E to Eb
I think that stems from Sho-Bud Day set-up. Thanks, Tommy..... P.S. Day is the best and only way to go.
