parts/building tips

Post by brian brown »

I am buiding my first lap steel. I am going to use a locust fence post. I can't seem to find any sites that have parts. Can anyone suggest some?

Also, any tips for first time builders?

I made a real neat 6 string using Telecaster parts. Using a Tele style bridge with the cover gives you the whole package including hanguard for a pretty reasonable price. It also allows you to run the strings through the body. All the stuff can be got from Stewart-MacDonald.

Check John Tipka's web site and buy his brochure on building a lap steel.

I have a high output 8 string pickup if you are building that style on my site at http://lollar.hypermart.net gives you some extra drive.
