Buudy Miller Album

Post by Lefty »

During the Olypics here in Atlanta I got to see Emmylou Harris (Spyboy tour) and Steve Earle. Emmy had a 3 piece band behind her that included Buddy Miller. This guy is an incredible guitar player, and good backup vocalist. Has anyone purchased his solo album, and if so how is it?
I was apprehensive about the Spyboy group at first (What, no hot band?) but these guys were great. There was a small turnout (due to the Olympics, I guess, and rain), and I got to position myself at the foot of the stage for a large part of the concert. I must say, Emmylou is just more beutiful live and up close than pictures do justice. At one point I had my binoculers and was looking real close at her J-200 gibson (I think she thought I was looking up her skirt!) Sorry Emmylou for the stare. I was trying to make out if the J-200 was the one she bought from Gram Parsons widow in pieces, and restored. I don't think so. I think it was her original amber J-200.
Great show, Great lady.

Check out Buddy's "Cruel Moon" CD. Al Perkins steel guitar is all over that recording and there are a couple of cuts that feature Steve Fishell on a Fender 400. Great record! and excellent steel guitar.

30 years ago, Buddy was a steel player. In fact, I play his old '65 Emmons onstage every night. Cool guitar.

"Your love and other lies" is one of my all-time favorites;Al Perkins is great and it`s got the greatest cover of "That`s how I got to Memphis"."Watching Amy dance" is great also.

The albums are fabulous, as are those of his wife, Julie
And he is a great, original-sounding guitarist
