SHeDAISY - WHAT THE HE**!!!!!
Did anyone see what they performed on the AMC awards! Come On, That's Totally over the line of country, even for today's standards. I Mean, Everybody crosses the line today. Even Ole George Strait and Alan Jackson cross the line sometimes! What is Country Coming to, well maybe I should say, What has it came to! There is no feeling in songs, No one can hit their notes, it aint country! The Only way I can hear good ole COUNTRY Music is to listen to ole videos on the Internet! That's not right! I have to admit, The Grand Ole Opry still is country for the most part, but even they cross the line! This is pathetic! If a 13 year old boy like myself can realize that there is something terribly wrong here, then why can't the people of Nashville realize it! I used to respect that city, defended that city, and cherished that city, but now I SPIT on that city for what the young 23 year olds in that city have done to it, not having a clue what country music is and where it came from! Now, I know there is a market for Traditional Country Music, So Don't tell me there ain't! Otherwise, there ain't no reason for them people to call it country! I mean, what were they thinking of changing it! What made them think that there was anything wrong with it! Now, I'm not saying it is nessesarily bad music, But Ain't no way in heck COUNTRY! I Just hope when I get older and go to Nashville, It will be willing to change, because if they think that I'm gonna set back and let this happen, they got another thing coming! I could go on and on for Hours, but It's my bedtime! I'll be up in the morning with more! I aint givin country music up that easy! Not without a fight! Not without COUNTRY MUSIC BACK!!!!!

P. S. I had a good sleep!

My sister got me george strait's box set for christmas and there is a biography book with it. I think it is interesting that when he went to nashville, to try to cut a record, he almost didn't get a label because he was too country. Imagine that. At that time, Dolly, Ronnie McDowel (sp??) and others were recording cross-overs and that seemed to be the way the genre was going. Then george came along and the critics blasted him. I like his comments though. He said something like I don;t care what the critics say. As long as the people like my music, I'll continue to record my style. So, who knows? maybe there is a newcomer somewhere that will turn country around like george strait did. But the way, the box set is awesome!!

What'd they sing? "(Tonight) It's Just Me" ??
Call me crazy, but I like that song. Country? Not really, I guess. But I doubt it'd get airplay on "pop" radio.
Never seen them live, so can't really comment on off-key or not. Seems like they were off on an awards show back in October, though. On the album, they're fine. No idea how much of that was "doctored" or how many takes, etc, though.
Edited to add: the video for that song is really, really bad, though. I don't understand it at all.

First of all, I Think George Strait is Probably Country's Most Respected person, has a great western swing style, and I like his music. Most of it is country, but some's not! Which really doesn't look that bad compared to today's stuff! SHeDAISY sang "I WILL" (I bet someone spent a lifetime writing that song - I WILL I WILL I WILL I WILL I WILL) But It wasn't even what people call country today! These people been in the business like a month, and they are already trying to change it to the worse. You just had to hear it! It's unexplainable (That Bad - A Mixture of Britney Spears, Eminem, and Kid Rock)! Country Music is, In my opinion, feeling, a good beat, SIMPLE - which doesn't mean REPETITIVE, Feeling, Steel guitar and guitar and fiddle, Good lyrics with a good beat to go with it, And so you can understand the words, FEELING!!!! And, Yes I realize the war has been going on for at least 30 years! I know what's going on! It's sad that John Hughey, Paul Franklin, and Some of the others will be out of a job pretty soon due to lack of COUNTRY with Steel Guitar. That's Definetly not right! I just don't get why they have to put this on the market! It ain't worth listening to, regardless what kind of music it is! I gotta go do the chores, so I'll be on later! Bye

Hey, Abraham!
Have you heard their CD? The music's actually good. Country? Well, certainly not like Kenney Chesney or George Strait or Alan Jackson or Brad Paisley.
Sex sells, huh? Hmmmmm, if I were putting out a group based on that philosophy, I'd probably use somebody else. Not that they aren't attractive, but I could probably find something most guys would find a little "hotter". (Actually, the red-head is kinda cute).
Nice guitar, BTW -- I've got the MSA S-12 Universal. Just wish I'd started playing it when I was your age. I'm almost 37, and I just started a few months ago. This certainly isn't a piano!

Well, First of all, thanks for the compliments on my steel! It's wonderful! But, I don't agree with the comment about the steel guitar - If they have a steel guitar, it must be country! In most cases, I would be right beside you, but nowadays, from what I've heard on the radio, the steel only plays a couple of notes for the whole song! That's what I disagree! If they only play that many notes, why bother putting them on the song? I'll tell you why! They are trying to disguise their pop/crap with a true country instrument to try and get more sales by posing as country!

He was making a joke, Abraham. But, I don't agree with the comment about the steel guitar - If they have a steel guitar, it must be country!
That's why he followed up with "guess what country" (or something like that).I don't think the steel guitar has to be there during the entire song to make it "country". Believe it or not, the steel CAN be overdone (heresy, I know
). Many times, "less is more".I'd have to listen to "I Will (Be Your Everything)" again. I'm not sure if there's a steel in there or not. But I won't argue if you don't want to call SheDaisy "country". I'd probably agree with you on that. But I am glad I've heard their music -- I like it. If it were only on "pop" radio, I wouldn't get to hear it. Plus, I don't really think they'd play it on "pop" radio.
How about some of Mark Wills' songs? Several of them have been done by pop artists, too. (Plus, one or two by John Michael Montgomery). I've always preferred the "country" version of those songs. It's better music, IMO. Primarily becasue of the steel guitar. But also it's in the copletely arrangement, the style, and the vocal style as well.

Well, I don't want to start a whole thread on this, and it is SheDaisy related. You ought to get a kick out of THIS!

Oh, I didn't see the awards show. I just talked with a friend, though. She said that SheDaisy's version of "I Will (Be Your Everything)", (aka "The Whole SheBang") wasn't performed at all like it was on the CD. She said they did a "rock" version of it.
Too bad (or is it?
) I didn't see it, becasue then I could comment. I doubt I would've liked it much. But I do like the version on the CD (which is what plays on the radio). I wonder what they do in concerts?
