Banjoman

Post by Tom Olson »

I understand that there was a movie made in the 70's called "Banjoman." Supposedly it was a tribute to Earl Scruggs. Many notable musicians appeared and performed in the movie. I have been unable to locate this movie for sale on video. Does anyone know if it's available, and, if so, from whom? Thanks.

David,

Thanks for the reply. I checked out your link but that's not the movie I'm looking for. You're right, I've already checked Amazon.com and other music/video sites with no luck.

I was thinking that there might be some off-the-wall publisher that has it and that I don't know about. Thanks again.

Leonard Maltin's movie and video guide doesn't even list that movie! And my Scheuer catalog doesn't show it ever being available on VHS. Still, there is always the chance (because of the movie's age) it was available at one time in the old BETA format (but I haven't any old BETA catalogs). Perhaps a specialty outfit, such as "Flashback Video" will release it in the future.

It's got the Byrds, Dylan, Earl Scruggs Revue, etc.. Clarence White. Can't be too bad, in fact I've heard it's great.

Ofcourse if you don't like banjo...well....

No, this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but it made me smile, so I thought I'd pass it along:
