I think i'm excited.

Well, this afternoon i came up with a killer hook for a song(hope it's original Image ). Sang it over and over in my head for about two hours. So i wasn't worried when i was in the food store and they were playing music which caused me to stop playing that hook through my head. I'm going to my car, and i lost it... tried to get it back... got some, but then the rest wasn't coming (I start to panic in these situations). I finally got it going again, but it was different. I'm afraid the first version is gone forever. Anyways, i like the new version, and lyrics and song structure are falling into place. This is a song i think everyone here would like. It's a "name dropping" song. The tune has a 70s jangley type of feel. I can't elaborate any further. But i promise to let people on the Forum listen to it when it is finished. Give me until end of June to have it recorded and online.
It's really frustrating because i have some multi-track equipment but where i live it's too noisy, and i don't want my neighbors hearing me sing. LOL
[This message was edited by erik on 11 May 2001 at 06:45 PM.]

Can't wait to hear it.

And get yourself a notepad and pen to always carry with ya for occasions like this.

Thanks David. I'm afraid to tell you how stupid i am: Every recording device i have in my home is broken in some way, and my portable boombox records but there is no microphone, you have to plug one in... a mini one. Can you believe this? So, i must have spent 2 hrs just playing the bassline today and humming the melody, so i felt i had it in the bag, meaning i didn't need to record anything to protect my memory. Well, it's 5:30am and i woke up an hour ago with the original version playing in my head, i kid you not! The problem is i know the second version is now better. So, i had to grab my bass and desperately try to trigger my memory. I then remembered that i had played the melody and bassline with a guitar into my answering machine. So i played that back and there was just enough to work with. 5 minutes on the bass and it came back.

I have to say it is emtionally painful doing this to myself, and it's not the first time. Today, i have to buy a cheesey microphone for my boombox, and maybe get digital memo device. But i'm thinking i might break down and get one of those Zoom portable multi-tracks. $300, but you then have to buy a 64meg media card... then there's the learning curve... ho hum.
