T Graham Brown

Post by Quesney Gibbs »

I went over to Gloster, MS to listen to T. Graham Brown with the hope of hearing some steel playing. It did not happen. The whole show was nothing but sixties rock and no steel to bee seen.

The music was good but I thought T. was a country act. I left after about five songs. It was just not my thing.

We played some shows with T in the late 80's. I knew he was into 60's rock and roll by the clothes he wore. Tie-dyed t-shirt and granny glasses. He's a really nice guy. We had supper with him and the band each night we worked. He didn't have a steel player though.

I always considered him the "Weakest Link" on the old "Nashville Now" shows, could never understand how Ralph had him on, way too many times?

I remember playing his style of music back in the 60's. It wasn't considered "country" back then either... Image

Let's face it. Not all acts include the wonderful steel guitar, never the less it is still entertaining. Ray Price without the steel would probably be Ray Price the local veterinarian however I can visualize all strings minus the steel..it may work.
Brown has in his act one of the most powerful songs ever written and sung and that is, "Turn the Wine Back into Water". If alcoholism has never touched your family then you may not understand what I mean. I guess I'm easily entertained, I liked Shotgun Redd....no steel there. ggh
