Redneck Jazz
Don't know the difference between this and the oft mentioned Gatton/Emmons "Redneck Jazz Explosion".
I picked up a copy of this CD from Joe's Record Paradise in Rockville, MD. It's on the NRG label with 1978 and 1991 copyrights. It has Emmons on three tracks; "Rock Candy", "Ode To Billy Joe" and "Canadian Sunset".
It was filed under "Local Music" (Danny was a local boy after all) and I was so shocked to see it I forgot to ask how and why as I assumed it was out of print.
Oh yeah....He's got more copies of this puppy.

Howard;
When Buddy was in Danny's band it was called "Redneck Jazz Explosion". There is also a CD with that as the title. It's a live recording.
Seemingly all of Danny's recordings are out of print. You can still get the Danny Anthology on Rhino Records and most likely a couple that were released on Big Mo Records. The NRG and Elektra recordings are all out of print.
I imagine the store had a stock of them left over. He was the "World's Greatest Unknown Guitar Player", so obviously nobody knew to pick them up.
For more information about Danny and his records, check www.dannygatton.com.

the original release of "Redneck Jazz" album was on RED Vinyl...
I believe (and I'll have to go dig it out,) that Emmons was only on Rock Candy on the original LP; the later issue (1991?) must have inserted the live RJE cuts...
"Rock Candy" I think was what precipitated the creation of the Redneck Jazz Explosion band
