XM Radio

Post by RickRichtmyer »

I'm not about ready to buy into the XM radio thing, but I checked out their website out of idle curiousity. One thing I found is that they have a nice, almost three-hour long sample of their classic country station (and other formats as well). Check out http://www.xmradio.com. Their classic country channel is Channel 13 - Hank's Place. At the moment Merle and the Strangers are doing "Sing Me Back Home." Oh, that ended. Now it's Ernest and the Troubadors "Walkin' the Floor Over You."

Rick - What you hear on the website is a looped sample of selected channels - which is great. Buy a receiver and subscribe and you will get Lefty (I Never Go Around Mirrors, Always Late, Mom & Dad Waltz), Webb (Slowly, More & More, Back Street Affair, There Stands The Glass), Faron (Sweet Dreams; Live Fast, Love Hard, Die Young; Goin Steady; Wine Me Up), Hank (Cheatin Heart; Cold Cold Heart; Jambalya; Mansion on Hill; Lonesome I Could Cry; Kowliga), Carl(I Overlooked An Orchid, Mister Moon,), Hank(Movin On, Golden Rocket, Fool Such As I, I've Been Everywhere Man), Marty(White Sport Coat, Beggin To You, Don't Worry About Me), Ray(Crazy Arms; Walk Me To The Door; I've Just Destroyed The World; The Other Woman; Night Life; Don't You Ever Get Tired; Touch My Heart), Merle (Swingin Doors, Bottle Let Me Down, Fugitive, Momma Tried, Okie, Fightin Side, I Never Go Around Mirrors, Workin Man), Jimmy(Sleepin At Foot Of Bed, Ole Cold Tater, We Could, Little But Loud), ET(Walkin Floor, Half A Mind, Filipino Baby, Sweet Thang, Waltz Across Texas), Loretta(Fist City, You Ain't Woman Enough, Coal Miner's Daughter, Success Has Made A Failure, Somebody Somewhere,One's On The Way), Tammy(Apartment No. 9; Divorce, I Don't Wanna Play House, Stand By Your Man, Take Me To Your World); George(Race Is On, Window Up Above, Picture Of Me, Grand Tour, He Stopped Lovin Her Today, She Thinks I Still Care), Patsy(I Fall To Pieces, Walkin After Midnight, Stronger Than Me, Crazy,You Belong To Me, She's Got You), Buck(Act Naturally, Together Again, Under Your Spell Again), . . . . . .

This is just a sampling of what I've heard since Christmas on Hank's Place - Channel 13. I talk this new medium up because I desperately want it to succeed. Finally we have a choice at a reasonable price. And what a choice you have. Don't like classic country, go to the classical channels. Want hip-hop - it's there. Want 40s big band - you got it. Today's Hot New Country - it's there too.

As for me, my receiver stays tuned to Hank's Place. Garth dare not show his face in there - he's personna non gratta. Image Image Image

Thanks for the Link!!

I can finally hear what they edited my "snippets" into!

the little modal "signature thingy" on steel or dobro they play for station ID is yours truly, from a session done last year before they launched the network.

When I was hanging out with Dale Watson and the boys in Nashville, this past August, Dale did an interview at the HOF XM studio. Webb Wilder did a nice interview and Dale did two solo acoustic versions of songs from the Every Song I Write Is For You CD. Afterwards, Dale did a jingle for them.

At the time, XM hadn't been launched yet and they were not sure when Dale's interview would air.
