Favorite Ballad to Play

Post by Frank Parish »

This probably has already been covered here but what is your favorite ballad to play? Last night the bass player called When The Grass Grows Over Me by George Jones and I became a lot more interested suddenly. We had the dance floor full and a good long applause.

"Song For Sara" the Paul Franklin E9 instrumental ballad. It's got a great melody and a lot of those early Buddy Emmons type harmonically pleasing tension and resolve moves. -MJ-

I like Dwight Yokum's "The Heart That You Own".. The record has some great Tom Brumley steel on it.

It has to be "Danny Boy". I'm told this is a story about a father who sees his son off to war.

While we're on the subject of "The Black Album", how about the "London Derriere"? Image
