Live in London with Dale and Ricky

Post by BobRob »

I just got the new Dale Watson CD "Live in
London". If you like your country REAL then
this is the CD for you. Great singing, great songs, great steel by Ricky Davis, this one has it all. This one is up there with "Live at Carnegie Hall", "Waylon Live", "Okie from Muskogee" and "Live at Panther Hall". Its that good. Go to www.cdnow.com, do a search for Dale Watson and listen to the snippets from the CD to see for your self. Beware: this isn't your 11 year old daughter's Nashville stuff.

If you need some more real country music then do a search for James Hand. Listen to the snippets from the "Evil Things" CD. Dale and Ricky helped out on this one a couple of years ago and it smokes.

Thanks Dale and Ricky and the rest of the Lonestars for making some great REAL country music.

later,

BobRob

Some folks were ahead of us with the British version Preachin to the Choir. I got this last week and it's been in heavy rotation
along with Dave Alvin Out in Ca Live and
Dolly Parton Halo's and Horns.

I also had 2 of my 3 other versions of
Bright Lights and Blond Haired Woman at work
Ray Price and Tennesse Ernie Ford. The one I left home was Tommy Morrells.

Hey everyone its the same concert, I have both of the CD's, but "Preachin to the Choir" is a double CD and its got more songs on it than "Live in London". The Double CD is the better deal if you can find it, I got mine on ebay from over in England. This double CD is an Import only,so see if your local record store can order it????.

I just ordered "Live in London", The Best of the Hightone Years, and The Trucking Sessions. I got mine from Amazon.com. Their prices were a bit cheaper than CD now.

Just went back and changed my order. I realized that I already have all of the Hightone releases after looking at the songs on it. I canceled that one and ordered "Every Song I Write is For You" instead. I also found out that Charley Pride's "Live at Panther Hall" has been re-released on CD, so I picked that one up as well. Free shipping cause it went over $49 Image

I've been playing the hell out of my Live From London CD and I would have to comment that I think it sounds much better than the Preachin' to the Choir version. The US version was remixed/mastered, so it has a much more even sound. On the European version, the guitar and steel mix often gets in the way of Dale's vocals; sometimes making the vocals difficult to hear clearly. This was corrected in the US version.

I recommend both versions for the true Watson fan. They both offer slightly different titles. The European version also includes computer files.

I agree, this CD belongs in the same category as Waylon Live, Live at Folsom and others mention in an earlier post.
