Lost Track of George Highfill

Post by GaryHoetker »

George opened a "Hag" concert in Bakersfield back in 1988 and was sensational. Some predicted stardom for George but I haven't heard much about him since the early 90's. Is he still touring and recording?

He's recording with someone of note, can't say more.. the lable execs may come for me.
George is doing well, he updated me recently.
He cut an album in '93 which kind of dissapeared with the label, he re-cut some tracks in 1998-1999 and the label that had that one seemed to be equally doomed.

So he's not had the greates runs with labels, although he's been recording all along. This new one seems like it will get his name back out there.

George's address is in Orange Co. CA...but his roots are still heavily in Tulsa. I hear he does some European touring occationally.

I've done a few gigs in Nevada with him the last couple years. Always puts good bands together! Very nice guy, and great country singer/songwriter! Real country.

When I was at Claremore College in Oklahoma in 1975 and 1976, George was an instructor there. He taught history of Country Music, songwriting, and ran the college country band. I played in another band with George in Coffeville, Kansas. George played harmonica and was a super musician. Haven't seen him since, but hope he is doing well, He was a good friend.

I believe he toured Europe this year and last, and he still does shows around the Reno/Nevada circuit.
