I was wondering if Buddy might be kin folk to this great musician? Bobby has played keyboards on many country albums.

I don't know if they're related or not -- in fact, I had wondered the same thing. But, I'm pretty sure that Bobby Emmons wrote or co-wrote quite a few hit songs.

I think Bobby is from Memphis originally.
He was part of the Bill Black Combo, producer Stan Keser had him as part of a cool studio band until Chips Moman at American Sound hired them away.
(American Sound did the Box Tops, Dusty Springfield, Elvis, Neil Diamond and heaps more in the 1960s).
In 1972 Chips and the whole band uprooted the studio to Alabama, discovered the Southern Rock scene didn't need house bands and split for Nashville.
