Looks like it was headed into artist bashing.

Artists bashing or politics. Either seems to be taboo on the Forum. The slightest bit of controversy gets locked or dumped. I personally miss the OT when it was here because most everyone would participate, unlike the "Off Topic" section, where only about six people go at each other. There is even discussion over there about shutting it down for lack of interest. http://pub26.ezboard.com/fofftopic44665frm1.showMessage?topicID=1348.topic
It's b0b's forum and his call.

I wasn't bashing, just mentioning his new song. Anyway, if threads stray from topic & believe me they all pretty much do, perhaps all threads should be closed.

It IS nice to be able to keep things from "melting down".

I made my bones on political boards that were completely unusable after a year. Servers got hacked, HDDs melted, doors got kicked in, and it just wasn't worth it. I sure learned how to type and frame an argument well though..

I like it when an administrator can see things coming and in most cases put in the the time to see if the wave is going to "crest nicely" as some of my joking "North vs South" have with Mr Gambrell, or some of the more pointy ones where peoples' insinuations were drawn out, and squashed without erupting into full megabite flame wars.

It's really nice to have some of these things go WAY off topic.

Sometimes with certain people, and I'll not name names, but the topic is a false premise, or purely humorous, or in some cases totally not about anything to do with anything.

Sometimes it's just whining, humor, pain, reflection etc.

Sometimes some of the good gets thrown out with the bad, but I think it's being done VERY well considering the varied opinions, and the strength of them.

It's a small price to pay for having such a good place.

Few are afraid to say "what's on their minds". That's icing on the cake and makes it a very good place.

What's on mine right now?

Nothing.

Theresa, I am always interested in what you have to say and find your views informative and interesting even if we don't agree sometimes.

Kevin,
I appreciate you saying that and no person agree's all the time. Hey, I'm married to Gregg! Image I still don't know why the thread was closed. But...
Anyway, it's a great country song and heck it has some great steel licks on it! Image

Theresa, I'm sorry your topic was closed. I was having fun and thinking of that much rumoured tiff between Natalie/Toby, whatever it was about. I guess one of the thought police misunderstood and then overreacted. I intended no ill toward you or your post. I haven't yet heard the new TK song you've mentioned, but you and I seem to like a lot of the same tunes/artists, so I'm sure it's fine. I never had any contentions one way or the other about it anyway. You won't remember me, but we spoke briefly at the ISGC a few yrs. back and I hope to say howdy again in a couple wks. Well, I'm out of sugar, so lets move on.

Thanks David,
Please stop by the booth. I know I'll remember your face.
I like Toby and he's country, hopefully you'll hear it soon on the radio.

Obviously, if Toby Keith OR Natalie gets mentioned, some shots are gonna be taken. I haven't heard the song, either, David. I was actually trying to divert the thread AWAY from "artist bashing." I guess some paths are best left un-taken.
Eric, you've enlightened me as to why "we" "lost" the War. All "our" generals were too busy making quotes, to use 'em. The only decent Northern quote I ever heard came from the allegedly "honest Abe," after a three-day drunk.
If somebody plays Day style, do you keep your airweight in your OTHER boot?
You know, stuff like that.

SG:

Well, I'd rather too sometimes that yall would have won it... I really liked the line item veto, and a few other of JD's ideas. He also deigned to execute deserters as rapidly as the northerners saying that "the poorest use of a soldier is to kill him" or something similar. The thing about his being caught wearing a dress is a definite lie. I think his knees would haven given him away anyhow.

The war period literature is absolutely spellbinding, and a study of generals on both sides is fascinating because often like NBF, they bought their ranks, and brought all kinds of wild personalities into the fray.

Actually the most prolific writer was W.... You know who. Jeez. His letters go On and On.. kind of like my "Uncle Eric Stories". It's a wonder he found time to light all the matches...

I'd think the Day pedals would just make one put the airweight in the port side of the boot or the moose lodge would have five holes in the floor to patch...

I've never thought about it..

I think the Dixie Chicks are hot. Their "minds" are just added allure.

Nothing bores me in a woman more than being conservative..

Moved to the 'Feedback' section.

I support the moderators in all of their decisions. Theresa started an appropriate Music topic, and several people seized the opportunity to broadcast their political views. Since we have a policy of discouraging political debate here, Janice closed the topic.

Why can't people talk about Toby's music instead of the Dixie Chicks' politics when Toby Kieth's name is mentioned? A sad state of affairs... Image
