48 Hours piece on today's country

Post by Bill Llewellyn »

Anyone else see that show? I caught about the last 2/3rds of it. Kenny Chesney, Leann Rimes, and Shania. Really, very centered on pop country.... it seemed to miss the traditional and neo-traditional. And Leann isn't even doing country anymore, she's trying to be a pop diva. I'm a bit disappointed that the content of the show wasn't broader.

A lot of us complain about the direction of country today. I think Vince Gill was trying to touch on that in his song "Young Man's Town", and I think he has a point.....
quote:

It's a young man's town,
Full of young man's dreams,
All God's children gotta learn to spread their wings,
Sometimes you gotta stand back,
Watch em burn it to the ground,
Even though you built it it's a young man's town

Bill, I saw a little of it but Virginia Tech stomping a mudhole in Miami's butt, was more exiting.

I missed it since I don't watch the networks.
The folks who produce those shows don't want the content any broader, but you already knew that.
I recall a review from a few years ago regarding LeAnn's CD of the day.
The remark was that it looked like she'd finally gotten what she wanted, she was just another young pop singer in an already crowded niche. How true.
