11-22 Grand Old Opry
I didn't catch much of last nights show but did get to hear Leann Rhimes on the way to the gig and never heard an ounce of reverb in the mix at all. I don't recall hearing it in Jean Shepards tune either. As good as Leann sings I always thought that the reverb on her records really enhanced her performance. It sounded like an acoustic type of set so maybe that's why but it seems like reverb would have still been there. Anybody from the Opry care to comment?

Frank,
don't forget we are at the Ryman now for the off season. That room has it's own built in acoustics. I'm sure that they were trying to get the sound across as best they could without it sounding like it was in a cave.In a room with that kind of acoutics, a little reverb could go a long ways! Also, adding reverb to a mix these days is a very subjective thing! Besides, no live radio show is ever going to have the same sound qualities that a good recording is going to have. The Opry "is" exactly what you get, "a live radio show(/TV Show)" complete with all the problems, mistakes, etc, that any other "live show" is going to face.

Charlie,
I just got through listening to the archives for 11-22. Sounds like Tommy "and" Russ were there to me. Try listening for yourself.
I was "there" 11-22, and nobody had any trouble hearing either of them. We all used the same amp and same mic.
Try re-listening to the show from the Opry archives and see if you hear them. I sure didn't have any trouble hearing them on my computer.

Dave,
The roughness of the Opry is what I like but it just seemed the mix was a little dry to me is all. I listen regularly on the way to work. For what I heard, it sounded like everyone was in the mix but just a little dry. It seemed like the mix was a bit better last night, more like I'm used to hearing.
