Tomorrow on the Dec 27th, there will be a documentary called "Lost Highway: The Story of Country Music".

I have seen some of this interesting show and it gives a lot of info on the history country music although I can't speak for the information's validly--I don't know the history of country that well. But it is interesting.

It is on TRIO (Directv 315) at (I believe) 5 AM EST if you're interested.

This should be a good show.. Image

It will start with Ma Carter, move on to Tenn. Ernie Ford, then we should hear from Roy Acuff, who we all thought wrote the Wabash Cannonball..then Roy Clark of course, maybe Chet Atkins then we should zoom thru Charlie Pride , Loretta Lynn , Willie and Merle and then will be macro zoomed to Vince Gill, Garth , Shania and the Chicks and we should end the history with Kid Rock singing with Hank Jr. cause that would be a good place for the history to end.

There I just saved you an hour or two..

no charge

I have seen this series. It is quite good. Four one hour segments, I believe. Bluegrass, Honky Tonk, The ladies of country, The Outlaws and beyond----I may be screwing this up but it's something like that. Good footage, good talking heads--Jean Shepard (sp?) talks about the tough life of one niters in a man's world---man, I like her a lot!)----it's just a good series. Doesn't have everything you might want? Nothing does. No point in putting together a committee, taking 10 years to produce it, and still not pleasing everyone.

I don't get it. Two people who have seen it are saying it is pretty good. Two people who haven't seen it are ragging and implying that it probably sucks. What's wrong with this picture?

My apologies, Tony. I misunderstood your post. I still say it's pretty good. Not definitive. But a bunch better than you'd get from CMT etc. But we'll just disagree. No prob.

I found the show interesting but after seeing it all, I agree that it is somewhat fragmented.
