Anybody remember "Buddy Dee"?

Post by Smiley Roberts »

I have a 45 "extended play" record,by an artist,w/ the name "Buddy Dee". This Starday record dates back to the mid to late 50's. It sure sounds like, either,Noel Boggs,or Herby Remington on steel. The song titles are:
"Swamp Water Drag"
"Cherokee Ride"
"String Band Rag"
"Shuffle The Blues"
All tunes written by "B. Dee"
Can anyone give me any info on this disc?

Thanx to Bryce Baker,I got in contact w/ Herb Remington,& he did, indeed, verify that it was him on the recording. Although Herb did not remember doing the session,I did play a little of each cut, over the phone, for him,& he said,"Yeah!" Thanx again Bryce.

Not likely John. "Professional" people,w/ the last name,"Dee",usually shorten it down, for easier pronunciation,e.g."D'Angelico",or "D'Amico".
I have a music friend, whose name is Roy Bledsoe. For professional purposes,he calls himself,"Roy Bee". You get the idea.

That EP album was cut in Houston in April of '55. Herby Remington played steel, and Cameron Hill played lead.

Buddy Dee? That was just an alias used by Pappy Daily. He and Jack Stames were the ones who started Starday records in 1952. Image

Hey Smiley,
Ask ol' John F. about his favorite girl singer Linda "Dee". I think they've got a thing going or something. The gal weighs in at 450 lbs or so. On second thought, maybe Kenny Dail wants her....JH

Always looked forward to Linda Singing "Rockin Robin" Image and standing in front of me, with those big buns flopping from side to side Image , It was more fun to see Kenny Dail Push me away and take my bass away from me for that song. I always looked for those big things to go out of control and go into perpetual orbit taking Ole KD with them. Image Now that I'm not as bass player anymore, she won't stand in front of me, it will be somebody else who will be hidden. I guess the audience thought those big buns were playing the bass notes. My identity was stolen from me. Image
[This message was edited by John Floyd on 05 April 2004 at 09:43 AM.]
