Interesting is right! What a great resource of information. As a 30 year resident of L.A.,I know many of those folks and in fact I had the very great privlige of spending all day yesterday in the studio with Ry Cooder,David Lindley,Jim Keltner,Waddy Wachtel,Jackson Browne and bassist extrordinaire Jorge Calderon who's not listed in the article - but should be. So the studio musician scene is far from dead around here - these cats are still gettin triple scale and when you see them work you'll know why. -MJ-

Michael,
Just curious , (and downright envious
)what was the session involving about 50 % of my all-time favorite musicians ?

It was a session for an upcoming tribute record where a whole bunch of different artists do their own versions of tunes written by the late great Warren Zevon. It's being produced by bassist Jorge Calderon who co-produced Warren's final CD, "The Wind" which came out right before he died last year. That record won three Grammys so the record company figured that there was a market for this new record.Warren's son,Jordan Zevon is also co-producing on some of the tunes.I was brought into the project because Jorge is a longtime friend of mine and we played in several bands together over the decades - plus I've worked with or at least know most of the other guys - especially Lindley and Keltner.I can't say too much about this new record right now because it's just getting started but it's gonna be loaded with major artists. -MJ-
