RIP L E White songwriter

Post by Janice Brooks »

L.E. White, Grammy award winning songwriter, has passed away at the age of 74, from an apparent heart attack. Michael White, one of L.E.'s sons, said he hopes his father will be remembered for his contribution to country music as well as his independent spirit and enduring sense of humor.

He said his father was one of the last songwriters of an ear who wrote songs with "three cords and the truth"--songs characterized by simple music and straight-forward powerful lyrics.

Four of L.E.'s songs reach #1-I Love You More Today"-"To See My Angel Cry"-"I'm Not Through Loving You Yet"- and the 1971 Grammy award-winning duet with Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn, "After The Fire Is Gone."

L.E. White had over 200 of his songs recorded from Bill Monroe, Andy Williams to Shania Twain.

Our prayers and condolences go out to Mr. Whites' family in their time of sorrow. Funeral services will be held tommorrow at 2PM here in the chapel of the Hendersonville Funeral Home.
