Alseep at the wheel Steeler?

Post by Rick Garrett »

Asleep at the wheel is going to be in Tyler tonight. I was thinking about going to listen to some Texas Swing. Anybody know who their steeler is? Thanks

Thanks guys! On the way out to get tickets right now. I saw them years back in Austin and I'm looking forward to a great show and some cool steel guitar.

Yeah man they had those twin fiddles goin and Jason did a fine job on vocals too. What a great band. Eddy River played steel and he was running it through a Fender Twin I think. He was playing a blonde Fender Stringmaster just like my dads guitar and he played standing up. Wow what a show! Catch Asleep at the Wheel if you like genuine Western Swing.

Rick, I was at the show also. I wish I could have met you. My daughter and I set on the front row and really enjoyed it!! As you said, Eddie did a great job as did the rest of the band!!

I've seen those guys several times now and they always really tear it up. My 3 yr old daughter had rather watch their DVD than watch cartoons. We saw them last February in Luckenbach and she set on the stage for the entire 2 hr show!!

I saw Eddie & The boys in Irvine late last year.. In addition to his pedal steel, I think I recall him also playing a Fender triple-neck non-pedal right?

Hey Toby, it was a D8 Fender Stringmaster that Eddie played at the concert. Sounded fine too.

Toby, Eddie Rivers has only been with the Wheel for 3 months now. Last year that sounds like it must have been Jim Murphy you saw. He had a pedal and a D8 onstage then. Nowadays, it's Eddie and a 54 Triple neck Stringmaster. He leaves his old Bud Professional at home, as Ray wants the non pedal sound onstage.
