Recommend an inexpensive AE guitar please

Post by Jeremy Steele »

I'm on the market for an acoustic electric guitar that I can bang around with and not have to worry about keeping in immaculate shape (we're talking in the $400-$600 range). I've checked out Ibanez, Yamaha, and Takamine, and they all seem to be pretty nice axes for the money. Can any of you folks share your thoughts?

The Canadian built Seagull guitars has some very good models in that price range, IMO they sound much better than most of the competition. http://www.seagullguitars.com/intro.htm

JS, I use a Yamaha APX AE, it sounds great electric, just average accoustic, but it plays well and stays in adjustment. Takimine has some cheaper models that sound OK, I personally do not like the Ibanez accoustics.Hope this helps.JP

Anybody checked out the Esteban special from the infomercials for $199 with teeny amp? It must be a real doozy.

I agree with Jim on the Yamaha.

Get a Blueridge and have a "Fischman" pickup installed. Killer tone!

Nobody mentioned the Fender DG series, do you have something against Fender?
