Question for Mike Brown?
Hello Mike:
Is the basket that makes the difference in the 1501 & 1502 Balck Widow speaker? If you change a 1501 basket into a 1502 frame will the speaker be a 1501?
Thanks,
Len Amaral

Hey Mike! I know this has been discussed before, but refresh my memory please.
I purchased my Nashville 400 new, in 1983. I believe it has a 1502. Later, Peavey started installing 1501's in the Nashville. (At least I think that's how the story went.)
What are the advantages or disadvantages of one over the other.
Thanks!
Lee, from South Texas
By the way, this amp has never been in the shop for any kind of repair. Never.

We have made many improvements through the years with the Black Widow line of speakers.
In the early '90's, our complete line of BW's were changed over to incorporate the Kevlar cones. However, this type of interwoven material didn't sound quite right for steel guitar, so we changed it back to a paper type of cone.
Both the earlier 1501-4ohm and the 1502-4ohm baskets were good with no particular advantage from either of them. However, the 1502 is now manufactured as a Kevlar and the 1501 is paper. I recommend the 1501-4 ohm shallow basket(#00027020) for all steel guitar applications.
