Problem with Goodrich Volume Pedal

I have a Goodrich L62 that I think the battery connection is causing distortion. I've changed batteries but the negative connection doesnt connect well. If i remove the circuit board and battery and replace with 500k passive pot will i still be able to use both out jacks on the pedal or will i strictly have to make mono connection. Does anyone have a schematic of how this should be done. Any help greatly appreciated. thanks Eddie
