Distortion ??
Does anyone have a good setting for distortion on the profex 2 that sounds good on steel?

I have some presets that the late Gary Hogue created for lap steel on the Transtube Fex, some that I created for lap steel on the Session 2000 that might work for you.
I really haven't tried these on a Profex II though, but the presets will load but you just won't be able to program in the "TB" and "ST" from the two aforesaid processors.
If you need assistance in programming a preset, give me a call at 1-877-732-8391.

For dirty distortion, the Rat can't be beat (in my opinion). It's real smooth. For overdrive, I'm still searching. I believe that tubes only can produce good warm overdrive. Have'nt met an effects unit yet that can match good tube produced overdrive. I am considering one of the pedals that actually uses a tube for the overdrive sound. I'm brain dead right now or I could remember the tube used. I want to say an ax127 but that can't be right. Hep me man, my brain be overloaded right now.
In fact, I'm thinking of dumping my Profex II. Too noisy. My Evans preamp will run circles around the Profex (sorry Mike).

I have a Peavey TransTube Max 100 that gets a nice distortion effect. Plus all the other numbers of sounds. I won't be using it, as I don't play professionally anymore, so will be selling it, sorry to say.......al
[This message was edited by Al Marcus on 12 November 2000 at 09:18 PM.]
