If you get a chance, read this week's "Nashville Scene" a weekly publication here in Nashville. Page 9 has a feature article about legendary Steel Guitarist "Frank Arnett". Frank was very institutional in helping develop the hot Bakersfield country sound that Buck Owens, Dwight Yoakam and others played. Frank and his wife Joanie reside just north of Nashville in Greenbrier, TN. I hope to get Frank to attend an NTSGA meeting very soon in the future. You can click to this link and read all about it.

Thanks for posting the link, Nick! I hadn't heard a word about Frank in years...I thought he might be gone by now. Good to see he's still around and having a good time, as he and I started playing just about the same time with the west-coast sound. Guys like Frank, Mooney, Dick Stubbs, and Jay MacDonald had a style of their own for sure!

I was fortunate to have Frank in my area as I was starting to learn pedal steel. He played with local music store owner Bob Wood's band for some time. I've got several hours of him playing live on 1/4 inch, and it is HOT. He played a Pedal 1000 through a Twin Reverb, and he cut through like a knife! I don't think I'm stretching by saying that he was probably the best of the above mentioned players.
